This part is an individual activity. Based on your current understanding of anatomy and the tension-free-vaginal tape procedure, what is your working diagnosis? What do you think has happened to this woman? Please write down your thoughts.
Your groups have been created based on your residency training year. Each group is made up of 4 members, with each member being from a different training year. Please see the Group page to see which group you are in.
Discuss your initial thoughts amongst your group members on the group specific Google doc. Clicking your group number on the Group page will take you to your doc.
ASSIGNMENT 1: As a group, examine pelvic anatomy, the tension-free vaginal tape procedure and medical literature that would be relevant to this case. See the Resources page for links to help you with this step.
Based on your findings, your group will prepare a one page document on your diagnosis and management plan. Please submit this assignment using the assignment submission form to the right of this page.
ASSIGNMENT 2: Create a presentation or demonstration targeted at other physicians to illustrate how this injury occurred and what your recommendation would be to avoid such an injury. You can use any medium you feel is appropriate (eg. online 3D sketch, powerpoint, 2D illustrations). Please submit this assignment using the assignment submission form to the right of this page.
Finally, reflect on your experiences with tension-free vaginal tape procedures in the past. Does your new found knowledge change what you will do in the future? (This is an individual activity).
